Project Title
Southside Professional Development Schools Network (SPDSN) ( website)

Description
The Southside Professional Development Schools Network (SPDSN), a K12 Initiative, is a consortium of 15 Leon County schools in partnership with Florida State University and Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University. The goals of the network are to enhance pre-service training, professional development for educators and other school staff, action research, and K12 student achievement.

The SPDSN has several core characteristics. These include: use of technology to link all schools and partners; an environment that integrates adult and children’s learning; participation of university, college and school partners on issues of practice and policy that may affect the SPDSN; open an inclusive communication among all partners; simultaneous renewal of the schools, colleges, and universities; and model instructional and professional development practices.
