Summer Internship Experience

Stella McDermott

Stella completed a spring internship at the Learning Systems Institute (LSI) right here at FSU. She had the opportunity to work under two extremely experienced project managers in the production of deliverables for the U.S. Navy. More specifically, the project entailed helping the Navy infuse technology into their practice. Her work involved automating the ISD process with four performance support tools.

Some of her responsibilities included:

  1. Conducting research on instructional design automation and models,
  2. Writing Navy deliverables and participating in conducting interviews and focus groups with Navy personnel,
  3. Writing surveys and questionnaires,
  4. Performing extensive literature reviews on EPSS.

It was a very team-oriented environment and she learned a lot about brainstorming and the need to bounce ideas off of other people. Stella stated, "It was a great experience because it allowed me to work very closely with some very experienced consultants." Stella has continued working with LSI after her internship.
