MEDITERRANEAN FRUIT FLY

The medfly is considered to be one of the world's most destructive pests because it attacks many different fruits.

Females attack by piercing the soft skin of ripe or ripening fruit and laying 3–14 eggs.

This invader, Ceratitis capitata, is often called the "medfly".
