A female gypsy moth (Lymantria dispar) lays a cluster of eggs in a crack
in tree bark and soon up to 1000 tiny, hungry caterpillars hatch.
The caterpillars hang from silk threads and "balloon" to other trees
to feed.
People
might not notice the gypsy moth if it were not for its caterpillar stage.
