Burning Issues II has been designed as a multi-layered HTML-based application, offering a wealth of information at any one time to the student. In order to do this effectively, it uses what are called "pop-up" windows--separate web browser mini-windows that are used to display information such as an instructional video, a description of an animal, or a glossary of fire terms. Users of this program should note that using pop-up windows within Burning Issues does not pose any security risk to the student as far as viewing unwanted or inappropriate content. These separate windows are all contained within the burning issues DVD...at no time will they allow any external web-sites to create their own pop-up windows...indeed, this would be programmatically impossible from within the Burning Issues II software.
In addition, the BI II software relies on Java to deliver various lessons to the students. Some ill-advised IT managers might see this as a security risk as well. Again, these Java-based lessons will not at any time reference any material outside of the DVD, effectively protecting the student from viewing any inappropriate content.
If you are viewing this web page, chances are that your browser has attempted to block the Burning Issues software from creating its standard interface window (which is done as a "pop-up"). In order to view the software, follow the instructions below for your web browser software:
