Burning Issues was produced by Florida State University's Interactive Media Science Project with the support of the Bureau of Land Management. Burning Issues II is a DVD update of our very popular Burning Issue CD originally released four years ago. Burning Issues II was funded by the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to educate the public about fire in ecosystems.

Burning Issues helps secondary students learn about the role of fire in ecosystems and the use of fire to manage natural areas. The program challenges users to learn about prescribed burns, wildland fire supression, the relationships between fire and invasive plant species and how to build "firewise" homes. This DVD contains EcoTours of different biotic communities, an interactive field guide containing more than 300 slides and descriptions of organisms, four on-line sctivities, print materials for educators and students and much, much more. Covered are topics ranging from building a fire wise house to how wildlife has adapted to fires. Over 60,000 copies of the first edition have been distributed to schools, fire departments and federal agencies. The new edition features larger, sharper images and additional activities.

Buring Issues give users an opportunity to explore and the exciting but dangerous world of wildland fire management. As they explore, they will discover why fire is a vital part of managing our natural resources for today and tomorrow.
