Roger Little
Visiting Professor

Roger Little (Ph.D, Durham), Emeritus Professor of French at Trinity College, Dublin, has an outstanding record of scholarship in French and francophone writing, with particular interests in sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean. His numerous publications include wide-ranging studies of literary representations of colonizers and colonized and monographs on writers such as Saint-Jean Perse, André Frénaud, Rimbaud, and Bernardin de Saint-Pierre. He has held positions in Europe, West Africa and North America. The French government has bestowed upon him the rank of Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite and he has been awarded the Prix de l'Académie française: médaille de vermeil du rayonnement de la langue française.

In the Spring semester of 2004, as Visiting Professor in the Winthrop-King Institute for Contemporary French and Francophone Studies at Florida State University, he will teach a course entitled "Blanc sur noir, noir sur blanc: l'inscription littéraire des attitudes françaises-ouest-africaines".
