Florida State University is located close to the downtown area of the state capital, Tallahassee. Situated in north-west Florida, Tallahassee is about an hour's drive from a stretch of the Gulf of Mexico known as the 'forgotten coast' because of its nature reserves and unspoiled beaches. The Wakulla Springs state park, a 30-minute drive from Tallahassee, offers boat-rides through the wildlife-rich waters where Tarzan and other movies were filmed. Tallahassee Regional Airport, which is served by Delta and a range of other airlines, is located 6 miles from the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Tallahassee. The Doubletree operates a complimentary shuttle service to the airport. Taxi fare from airport to hotel is around $15. Driving Directions from Tallahassee Regional Airport to the Doubletree Hotel: Take a right out of the airport parking lot onto Capital Circle. Left on Lake Bradford Rd. Right on Gaines Street. Left on Monroe. Left on Jefferson. Right on Adams Street, hotel is 2 blocks on the right. Driving Directions from Interstate-10 to Doubletree Hotel: Take exit 29 (Tallahassee/Havana exit) go South on Monroe Street about 3.5 miles. Turn right at Park Avenue. Hotel is 1 block on left.
