Project G.O.A.L.S.
(Gaining Opportunities and Learning Strategies)

Project GOALS is a preparatory program for high school students with academic difficulties. The program was developed to assist students with learning disabilities as they prepare for college, vocational school, or employment after high school. The program aims to better prepare these students for college and the work environment. This is done through...

1. Hands-on study skills workshops covering topics such as time management, note-taking, organization, and test-taking skills.

2. “Coaching” of participants that emphasizes planning, motivation, strategizing, goal setting, and problem solving.

3. Educating students in selecting a college or work environment that is suitable for LD or ADHD individuals or those with similar challenges.

areer exploration activities and self-advocacy training.

The program’s goals also include improving students’ high-school GPA and self-esteem. Project GOALS may also contribute to establishing an empirically-supported program that can be utilized throughout Florida to assist other students with disabilities.
