Pero, yo no sé
por Donald (D.J.)

Ahora
es el
tiempo perfecto para mi estrella brillar,
pero no sé mi
dirección.
Pienso que sé mi
futuro
pero no estoy
seguro.
Mi madre dice
<<Dios está de tu lado>>
pero yo tengo
miedo.
El mundo hoy está
frío y sin cariño,
pero yo tengo
esperanza.
Parezco
inteligente,
pero no sé las
respuestas.
Mucha gente
piensa el mañana vendrá siempre,
pero ellos no
saben de verdad.
Siento como que
el mundo está en mis hombros,
pero continúo en
mi camino.
¿Adónde me tomará
este camino?
Yo no sé.
Pero, todavía
estoy caminando.

This month in History
By Rebecca Olive
On April 25,
1898, the United States formally declared war against Spain. Cubans
desired freedom from the Spanish crown, and the U.S. fought Spain in
the name of giving Cuba their coveted independence. In the Paris Treaty
the U.S. gained control of Cuba, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philipines.
The Spanish refer to this moment in hitory as the "desastre colonial"
or "colonial disaster." It deprived Spain of raw materials previously
procured from these islands. As in Cuba, there was an independent
feeling growing in the many different regions of Spain. People began to
take a lot of pride in their region instead of their country. In
northern spain, in Galicia, the movement was called the Rexurdamiento.
Cataluna's movement was known as the Renaixenca.

Summer in Valencia
By Kelly McClendon
The rents
bought the ol’ “good opportunity to learn Spanish” bit. When I asked
for permission (money) to study abroad in Spain this summer, I of
course, left out what I was really excited about: quality vino, long
nights in the discothèque, and a country that recognizes the
importance of mid-day napping. More and more students are taking
advantage of Florida State’s national top-5 international programs. I,
for one, can’t wait to spend my summer in the enticing España.
If you are thinking that you don’t want to miss out on Valencia, head
to International
Programs There are still some open spots for this summer’s program.
