School of Information Studies Celebration Week Calendar of Events May 21 - 27, 2001

Rush Miller, a 1974 graduate of the school, will give a lecture. Dr. Miller is head of the University’s of Pittsburgh’s Library System and is the first incumbent of the Hillman Chair, an endowed-library chair funded by a $2.5 million grant to the University of Pittsburgh. TIME: 11 a.m. - noon PLACE: Werkmeister Reading Room, Dodd Hall Tuesday, May 22, 2001 Doctoral Students to host cookout/raffle/trivia TIME: 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. PLACE: In front of the Shores Building. Virginia Sharp, a 1988 MS graduate, will present an informal lecture titled, "Career Development in Law Librarianship: Perspective of a Provider of Law Library Management and Research Services to the Private Sector." TIME: 2 p.m. PLACE: Goldstein Library Wednesday, May 23, 2001 Youth Services Day One class and one storyteller every hour. TIME: 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. PLACE: Goldstein Library/Landis Green Thursday, May 24, 2001 Marilyn Gell Mason, a member of the school’s Council of Advisors, will give a lecture on the future of public libraries. Ms. Mason is a retired director of the Cleveland Public Library and is a member designate on the National Commission on Libraries and Information Science (NCLIS). TIME: 11 a.m. - noon PLACE: Werkmeister Reading Room, Dodd Hall Friday, May 25, 2001 FSU faculty, staff and students are invited to participate in Infomania, an information retrieval game.
