John Richard Weaver
John Richard Weaver, 54, the college machine shop supervisor and design engineer at the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering, died Aug. 15.
A native of Peoria, Ill., he had lived in Tallahassee since
1975.
He was involved with each department at the college and the teaching
laboratory. He helped with many projects, including the solar
car, concrete boat and the automotive engineering society.
"He was very student-oriented," said Ching-Jen Chen,
dean of the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering. "He would bend
over backwards to help students with what they were working on,
and he would work nights and weekends to do this. He was very
experienced and patient and was great at executing projects."
Mr. Weaver was a member of Piedmont Park Alliance Church.
