1963C. Wayne Edwards (B.S.) is district governor for District 6940 of Rotary International. He is president of Professional Financial Planning Inc. of Tallahassee. Harold D. Mixon (M.A., Ph.D. '64) has taught 34 years at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. The LSU department of speech communication has named the LSU debate program for him. 1967Carolyn Spencer Griner (B.S.) deputy director of the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., received the agency's highest honor, the Distinguished Service Medal, for her contributions to missions. Richard E. Harbin (B.S.) is co-editor of the Core Curriculum for the Nursing Care of Children and Their Families. Retired from the Public Health Service, he is a primary care provider for the Indian River County Health Department. 1968Marjorie Woolford Chanco (B.A.) is an English teacher at Lakeland Highlands Middle School. Her advanced eighth-grade class has won accolades around the nation for "Holocaust: The Outcome of an Economy Gone Awry." |

1970Mary "Kaye" Waldeck Derryberry (B.S.) is Oklahoma's Outstanding Technology-Using Secondary Teacher for 1999. A. J. "Jim" Spalla (J.D.) has relocated his law practice -specializing in eminent domain, condemnation, mediation and transportation law - to the law firm of Young, van Assenderp, Varnadoe & Anderson in Tallahassee. William E. Taylor (M.B.A.) has retired from NASA'S Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., where he was the director of Science and Engineering. 1972Douglas J. Caylor (B.S., M.S. '79), at Ruediger Elementary School in Tallahassee, is a 1999 winner of Florida's Principal Achievement Awards. J. Frank Voran (B.S., M.S. '74) is principal of Woodville Elementary School south of Tallahassee. 1974Ben E. Koenig (B.S., M.S. '81) is the new principal at Godby High School in Tallahassee. 1975Sachi G. Dastidar (Ph.D.) is a professor of politics and economics at State University of New York at Old Westbury and a scholar of Indian politics. He has been awarded a Fulbright Scholar grant to study the emergence of a national identity in Kazakhstan, and he has the rank of Distinguished Service Professor. 1976Merrybeth H. Ortega (M.S.), principal of Godby High for 10 years, is principal of the new Chiles High in Tallahassee. Gregg H. Anderson (B.S.) is executive vice president of marketing for Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina and senior vice president of marketing for its parent company, ClubCorp Resorts. 1977Iris C. Wilson (B.S., M.S. '95, S.P.E. '95) is principal of Kate Sullivan Elementary School in Tallahassee. 1978Carol A. Ford (B.S.) has received a four-year, $240,000 Generalist Physician Faculty Scholar Program Award from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation of Princeton, N.J. Ford is an assistant professor of pediatrics and medicine at the UNC-CH School of Medicine. Curtis H. Martin Jr. (B.S.) was elected senior vice president of Norwest Financial Inc. Roger A. Powell (M.S.) was the first Australian Army officer to study at FSU and is now the COMD of Training Command. Powell is a Major General and lives in Sydney. 1979Virgil L. Lawson Jr. (B.S.) received a master's of elementary education from Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. Joan M. Ziegler (M.S.) is a founder of two interactive publishing companies, JAZZ Interactive and Hi Tech Expressions. Ziegler has a 15-year track record of building new media businesses around youth-focused software and video games. 1980William M. Caldwell (Ph.D.) is an associate professor of music and director of choral activities at Georgia Institute of Technology. He was named Faculty Member of the Year by the Student Government Association. H. Michelle Snow (B.M., B.M.E. '87, M.S. '96) teaches voice and piano in Medart, Fla. James P. Wiber (B.S.) founded Triode Realty Advisors Inc., with offices in Florida and Colorado, in 1998. 1981Kevin S. Sanders (B.S.) is running for the U.S. Congress, Florida District 4, against incumbent Tillie Fowler. Delores D. Truesdell (B.S., M.S. '86) is a faculty member in the department of nutrition, food and exercise sciences in the College of Human Sciences at FSU. She received the 1999 Florida Dietetic Association's Public Service Award. 1982David L. Beckley (M.A.) received a Ph.D. from Clemson University in South Carolina. Jimmy M. Woodward (B.S.) is vice president and chief administrative officer of Flowers Industries in Thomasville, Ga. 1983Lt. Cmdr. Samuel E. Edwards (B.S.) received his second Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal while assigned to Canadian Fleet Pacific Headquarters, Esquimalt, Canada. David K. Robertson II (B.S.) has been named chief operating officer for Reynolds, Smith and Hills Inc., a 425-person architectural, engineering, planning and environmental services firm in Jacksonville. 1985Kathleen L. Combs (B.S.) is store manager at Sears, Roebuck in High Point, N.C. Colleen R. Lundy (Ph.D.) has been named director of the School of Social Work at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. Donald A. Roycraft Officer of the Year in 1998 in the state of Colorado. Herman Y. Thomas (J.D.) is Circuit Court Judge for the Thirteenth Judicial District of Alabama. 1986Peggy S. Youngblood (M.S.) will be the principal of Leon County's 25th elementary school, which is scheduled to open next year. 1988Capt. Roland M. Edwards (B.A.) completed a year in Kuwait and is on his way to Luanda, Angola (southern Africa). Alexander E. Jimenez (M.M., M.M.E. '90) will join the faculty of the department of music at San Francisco State University. 1989B. Dan Berger (B.S.) graduated with a master's degree from Harvard University. He is the managing director of the Capital Group, a venture capital firm in Sarasota. Laura D. Speake (B.S.) received a Ph.D. in applied economics from Clemson University. Wendy L. Weber (B.S.) received a doctoral degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. 1990David C. Marlett (B.S., Ph.D. '97) is an Illinois Wesleyan University assistant professor of risk management. 1991George S. Conley (B.S.) graduated from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, Bethesda, Md., and is a Navy lieutenant. Keith M. Driggers (M.B.A.) has joined the Orlando office of MARSH, a risk management consulting and insurance broking firm. 1992K. Josh A. Hinson (B.S.) is assisting the NATO/UN peacekeeping effort in Kosovo, aboard the amphibious assault ship and Amphibious Ready Group flagship USS Kearsarge. Link Jarrett (B.S.) will be assistant Leon High baseball coach. First Lt. Henry June Jr. (B.A.) completed a six-month deployment to the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans and the Arabian Gulf, aboard the ships of the USS Boxer Amphibious Ready Group. Sarah Boone King (B.S.) is director of alumni affairs and annual fund for the UNC School of Law in Chapel Hill, N.C. William S. Marshall (M.S.) is working on the design of the 900 MHz NMR magnet at the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory Erin L. O'Brien (B.S.) began her residency in obstetrics and gynecology in Charleston, S.C. 1995Theresea A. Louthain (B.S.) has joined the Headline Group, an Atlanta public relations agency, as an assistant account executive. J. Scott Steverson (B.S.) has joined the North Highland Company in Atlanta as a consultant specializing in network administration. 1996Robert A. Caragiulo (B.F.A.) won the Global Vision Award at the World Population Film and Video Festival in Massachusetts for the film "Blue Green," which he directed and wrote. Aaron H.
