C. Gary Ashley (B.S. '56) received the Georgia School Boards Association's "Hall of Fame" award for outstanding leadership and service to education in Georgia.

1959

C. Jonathan Champion (B.S. '59), Winter Park, is a member of the Million Dollar Round Table's 1996 Honor Roll.

Linda Giddens Swaine (B.A. '59, M.S. '71), Morristown, Tenn., has joined Walters State Community College in the library as a resource assistant.

1962

Harvey G. Ryland (B.S. '62, M.S. '63) Boston, Mass., is the new president and chief executive officer of the Insurance Institute for Property Loss Reduction.

1964

William A."Andy" Haggard (B.A. '64) has been reelected to a two-year term on the Board of Directors of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers in Tallahassee.

Carol Smith White (B.S. '64), Atlanta, earned a Ph.D in business education at Georgia State University where she teaches in the College of Business.

1968

Brian L. Wilson (B.M. '68, M.M. '71), Kalamazoo, Mich., professor of music and director of music therapy program at Western Michigan University, has edited, compiled and helped write Models of Music Therapy Interventions in School Settings: From Institution to Inclusion.

1969

Ann Stephenson-Moe (B.A. '69), Sarasota, organist/choir mistress at Church of the Redeemer, received an honorary doctorate from the Nashota House (Episcopal Seminary) in Nashota, Wisc.

1970

Joel M. DeVolentine (B.S. '70, M.W. '71) is juvenile-justice manager of the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services for District 2, which includes Leon County.

Michael D. English (B.S. '70) is the president - Eastern Region - for MGC Communications.

John J. Harris (B.S. '70) has joined Holland & Knight as a full-time government relations consultant.

Marjorie J. Meyer (B.A. '70) owns Prime Site Inc., AAMC, a professional community association management company.

1971

Dr. Barbara J. Frieling (B.A. '71, M.A. '75, Ph.D. '87), Bainbridge, Ga., was selected for a Woman of the Year award for 1996 by the International Research Board of the American Biographical Institute.

1972

David S. Bair (B.A. '72) is president of the New Mexico banks of NationsBank.

Cynthia M. Davis (B.S. '72), Bainbridge, Ga., received the Navy and Marines Corps Commendation Medal from the Secretary of the Department of the Navy for heroic service.

1974

Donald L. Blinzinger (M.S.W. '74), Indianapolis, Ind., is public affairs consultant for the law firm of Bose McKinney & Evans.

Dwight F. Burlingame (M.A. '74, Ph.D. '74) edited the book, Corporate Philanthropy at the Crossroads for the Indiana University Press.

Sue Colombo (M.S. '74) is the Florida Council of Teachers of English 1996 teacher of the year.

Richard A. Magil (Ph.D. '74), Louisiana State University, is the Editor-In-Chief of the Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport.

1975

Joel Dawson (Ph.D. '75), has been named acting principal of Sabal Palm Elementary School in Tallahassee.

Ted M. Rivenbark (B.S. '75) is the director of police and public safety at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

1976

Dr. Frances "Dee" Haemmerlie Montgomery (M.S. '76, Ph.D. '78), Rolla, Mo., received the 1996 Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. She is a Distinguished Teaching Professor of psychology at the University of Missouri-Rolla.

Russell S. Poyner (B.S. '76) retired after 20 years in the Navy.

1979

Claire Cammarano Terrell (B.S. '79), Brentwood, Tenn., is general manager of commercial markets for AT&T's Kentucky/Tennessee branch.

1980

Duane R. Pilch (Ph.D. '80), Westminster, Md., is a visiting assistant professor at Western Maryland College in chemistry.

1981

Allyson Saunders Caddell (B.A. '81) was promoted to Navy Commander while serving with Commander, Sixth Fleet Detachment 802, Naval and Marine Corps Reserve Readiness Center, Atlanta.

Cynthia L. Cox (B.S. '82, J.D. '86) was elected Circuit Court Judge in the 19th Judicial Circuit.

Michael G. Meidel (B.S. '81) was promoted to Florida Power Corp. area manager for north Pinellas County.

Jorge L. Moreno Z (B.S. '82), Miami, has joined Gerson, Preston & Company, in the Litigation Support Department.

1982

Michael W. McErlean (B.S. '82) has departed for a six-month overseas deployment to the western Pacific Ocean with the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

1983

Samuel L. Henry (B.S. '83) was promoted to Major while serving with 1st Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, Calif.

1984

Margo Lee Frasier (J.D. '84), Austin, Texas, is Travis County's first female sheriff.

David D. Houdeshell (B.S. '84) is manager of credit administration for Barnett Bank in Jacksonville.

Scott E. Lake (B.S. '84), St. Petersburg, is the president of R.S. Williams & Associates, a business insurance and estate planning firm.

Dominic "Donny" C. Mackenzie (B.S. '84, J.D. '87), Jacksonville, received the 1997 Florida Bar President's Pro Bono Service Award in the Fourth Judicial Court.

1986

Michael A. Perkins (J.D. '86) has joined AmStaff Human Resources as director of client services and general counsel.

Benjamin E. White (B.S. '86), Bainbridge, Ga., has joined Bainbridge College as temporary instructor of computer information systems.

William Worcester (B.S. '86, MACC '87), Hartford, Conn., was promoted to manager in the New England region of KPMG Peat Marwick LLP, an international professional service firm.

1987

Paul B. Mahoney (B.S. '87) graduated from Georgia State University with an MBA in international business, and is in Corporate Banking for Commerzbank AG, Germany's third largest bank, and 27th in the world.

Susan L. Rubier (M.M. '87), Atlanta, received a merit scholarship for 1996-97 at the Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta.

1989

Tracy L. Butterfield (B.S. '89), Washington, D.C., participated in the 21st Annual Marine Corps Marathon.

James H. McNeil Jr. (B.S. '90, M.S.P. '92), Orlando, is an associate in real estate and land use for Maguire, Voorhis & Wells, P.A.

Marybeth Perry (J.D. '90), Jacksonville, is a liquidator for the Florida Department of Insurance.

Theodore "Ted" R. Wickman (B.S. '90), Greensboro, N.C., was named assets manager for Dillard, ResourceNet International Company.

James L. Russell (B.S. '91) is the FSU Police Department's Officer of the Year.

John C. Luce (B.S. '92), Coconut Creek, Fla., participated in CIGNA Corporation's 1996-97 Financial Leadership Program.

1993

James P. Ankney (B.S. '93), Quantico, Va., graduated from The Basic School at Marine Corps Combat Development Command.

John E. Cole (J.D. '93), Atlanta, received an honor scholarship for the 1996-97 year at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta.

Ricky S. Fisch (B.S. '93), Kunia, Oahu, Hawaii, has reported for duty with Naval Security Activity.

William H. Johnson (B.S. '93) has returned from a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Saipan.

Dowel E. Meggs Jr. (B.S. '93), Quantico, Va., graduated from The Basic School at Marine Corps Combat Development Command.

Sean R. Pirone (B.A. '93, M.S. '95), Ft. Drum, N.Y., received a commission after completing Officer Candidate School at Ft. Benning, Ga., and is currently serving in the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Ft. Drum.

Brett D. Schaefer (B.A. '93), Washington, D.C., was named Jay Kingham Fellow in international regulatory affairs at The Heritage Foundation.

Todd A. Weicholz (B.S. '95) was promoted to Marine Corporal while serving with Charlie Company, 8th Tank Battalion, Fourth Marine Division in Tallahassee.

1994

Richard A. Floyd (B.A. '94), Atlanta, received a Merit Scholarship for the 1996-97 year at Columbia Theological Seminary in Atlanta.

Jennifer Tidwell Willis (B.S. '94), has completed the two-day Certified Legal Assistant examination.

1995

William F. Dyer (B.S. '95) returned from a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit, aboard the USS Saipan Amphibious Ready Group.

Kelly J. Holmes (B.S. '95) received a commission as a naval officer after completing Officer Candidate School in Pensacola.

George W. Johnson (B.S. '95), Quantico, Va., has graduated from The Basic School at Marine Corps Combat Development Command.

Melanie Shaw (J.D. '95), Georgetown, Ky., has joined Georgetown College as executive coordinator of its Cincinnati Bengals partnership team.

Gabriele U. Stauf (Ph.D. '95), Bainbridge, Ga., is the 1996-97 Board of Regents Distinguished Professor, director of the learning center, and assistant professor of English at Bainbridge College.

Scott A. Westerfield (B.A. '95), Quantico, Va., has graduated from The Basic School at Marine Corps Combat Development Command.

Darrell Fike (Ph.D. '96), Bainbridge, Ga. is instructor of English and humanities at Bainbridge College.

Thomas D. McKay (B.S. '96), Pensacola, received a commission as a naval officer after completing Officer Candidate School, in Pensacola, with distinction.
