Robert Minnix, a director of enforcement at the NCAA since 1975 and a former star running back at Notre Dame, has accepted the position of associate athletics director for compliance and legal affairs at FSU.

"The fact that Bob Minnix has accepted our offer to become a member of our senior management team is cause for genuine excitement," said FSU Athletics Director Dave Hart. "He brings a unique range of experiences to our department. Our coaches and student athletes will benefit from his experience and his understanding of intercollegiate athletics."

In his role at the NCAA, Minnix oversaw enforcement issues with regard to the NCAA and its member institutions, including the preparation and presentation of cases to be heard by the committee for infractions. He has served on a number of NCAA committees including the Leadership and Development Training Committee, Special Events Committee, Postseason Football Subcommittee, and staff task forces that concentrated on public relations, compensation, and employment opportunities for women and minorities.

Minnix graduated from Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane, Wash., and attended Notre Dame where he played in back-to-back Cotton Bowls in 1970 and 1971. He led the Fighting Irish in rushing as a senior in 1971. He graduated from Notre Dame in 1972 and entered law school at the University of Washington where he received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1975.

"I look forward to working with Dave Hart, his staff, the coaches and the student athletes at Florida State University," Minnix said. "FSU is a rising star among Division I institutions and has demonstrated its commitment to the welfare and well-being of the student athlete on and off the athletic field. It is my intention to help enhance this endeavor and make Florida State University a model for intercollegiate athletics as we approach a new century."
