About us
For the past 25 years, the FSU chapter of Florida Future Educators of America has been working
on and off campus representing the philosophy and the ideals FFEA's members commit to.
In 1996, FFEA was recognized as the Student Organization of the Year, and it was also
nominated for Volunteer Organization of the Year for Leon County.
Likewise, two officers were equally recognized for their services. Kema Gadson, FFEA's president,
received the SRATE Professional Development Pre-Baccalaureate Award from the Sourtheastern
Association of Teacher Educators. FFEA's Vice President, Lani Collier, was nominee for Volunteer
of the Year for Leon County.
As members and officers come and go, the FSU chapter of FFEA continues to contribute to the whole formation
of education majors by organizing service activities that allow students to reach out and make
a mark in the community.
In the past years our members have contributed time and dedication to different literacy
projects in the Tallahasse area, tutoring children and young adults in reading skills.
Also, the group has participated in school activities organized by PTAs such as carnivals and
Halloween celebrations, as well as seasonal activities like the Winter Festival and the Parade
of Lights.
The different housing projects administered by Habitat for Humanity have also received FFEA members
who have volunteered to help build houses for deserving families.
Together with these activities, members also have the opportunity to participate in panels and
forums of professionals, where they can get first hand insight into areas of interest for those
who will be part of the educational system.
The FSU chapter of Florida Future Educators of America, welcoming all new students in the
College of Education, and wishing a bright future to those who graduate and leave college, is
committed to the important role of offering an environment in which prospective teachers and
education administrators can grow both personally and academically, an environment where
tolerance, respect and responsibility are valued principles that will guide our future educators.
