Dr. Shouping Hu
Associate Professor
Shouping Hu is associate professor of higher education at Florida State University. He received a B.S. degree in Geography from Peking University and earned his M.S. in Economics and Ph.D. in Higher Education from Indiana University-Bloomington. He also had two-year graduate study in the Institute of Higher Education at Peking University.
Dr. Hu’s research interests focus on college access and success, student engagement, and higher education policy. He has published dozens of articles in academic journals and is the author of “Beyond Grade Inflation: Grading Problems in Higher Education” (Jossey-Bass, 2005) and the lead author of “Reinventing Undergraduate Education: Engaging College Students in Research and Creative Activities” (Jossey-Bass, 2008). He is serving as a principal panel member for the National Center for Education Research (NCER) at the Institute of Education Science (IES) in the U.S. Department of Education and a national advisory board member for the ASHE Higher Education Report Series. His research work has been featured in media outlets such as The Chronicle of Higher Education and Inside Higher Ed.
