Welcome to the Sociocultural and International Development Education Studies (SIDES) program web site!
The mission of the SIDES program is to prepare individuals to assume leadership roles in education who can conduct issue- or policy-oriented research or field work regarding the role of education in the development process, critically evaluate research and practice related to education and development, use research findings and field experience to formulate relevant educational policy, and design educational programs that will contribute to national and regional development.
Students may earn a Masters (M.S.), Education Specialist (Ed.S.), or Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Educational Foundations with a concentration in SIDES. The Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Department, in partnership with the Department of Middle and Secondary Education, is proud to offer the Peace Corps Masters International in Education, which allows graduate students to gain hands-on international education experience in a developing country while working toward completion of a Masters degree in either Educational Foundations with a concentration in SIDES, or a Masters degree in Mathematics Education, Science Education, or English Education.
We invite you to explore the website (currently under construction) to learn more about the programs we offer and the exciting possibilities of graduate study in SIDES at Florida State University. If you have questions about the program after reading the materials available here, please contact our SIDES Program Administrator by phone at (850)644-8176 or by e-mail at sides@coe.fsu.edu.
