DR. PETER B. EASTON
Formal Education:
Academic Professions:Peter Easton is Associate Professor of Adult Education and Human Resource Development (AE&HRD) in the Department of Educational Foundations and Policy Studies at FSU, and holds doctoral directive status in two related programs in the same Department: International Education and Social Sciences of Education. He specializes in the economics of training and adult education, evaluation methodology, participatory movements, and comparative international adult education. Experiences & Publications:Easton has over thirty years of experience working in adult education and related fields in the United States, Africa, the Caribbean and Southeast Asia, beginning with seven years in adult literacy programs in Sahelian West Africa. He has published and presented research findings widely in both English and French and has written and spoken competence as well in Spanish and several other languages. He has been responsible for designing and administering a number of large adult education-related projects, including a $500,000 functional adult literacy project in the Republic of Niger in the 1970s, a $20 million basic education improvement endeavor in the Republic of Haiti in the 1980s, a $750,000 community empowerment and adult training project in low income neighborhoods of north Florida (still ongoing), and, most recently, a $500,000 comparative adult education research study in West Africa funded by the OECD. Easton has served as a trainer in adult education evaluation methods for the UNESCO Institute for Education's ongoing program with Eastern and Southern Africa.
