Assistantships

Assistantships are an important part of the program here at FSU. Assistantships offer you the opportunity to put your coursework into action as well as gain valuable experience in the types of positions which you may pursue after you attain your degree. Assistantships also offer compensation that help defray the costs of graduate education.

Partial tuition waivers are available in the fall and spring with most assistantships. The partial tuition waivers are awarded through the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies, College of Education . The funds are limited and every good faith effort is made to assign the money fairly and wisely. The funds available may not be sufficient to fully fund every student. Summer funding is very limited. It is the student's responsibility to find additional funding sources, usually through the Student Financial Aid Office.

When new students are offered an assistantship the employer will make the offer and inform the student of the accompanying wage stipend. The tuition waiver offer will come only from the Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies. Employers will notify the higher education representative (Dr. Shouping Hu) of students to whom they have made assistantship offers and Dr. Hu will contact the student regarding the tuition waiver.
