When I began searching for a graduate program to further my advancement in my Human Resources career, I looked at several possibilities. Ultimately, I decided to pursue FSU's online Human Resource Development program. This is my first year in the M.S. program and I have found it to be a wonderful learning experience. I recognize how vital this program will be in providing me with the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform and excel in the field of Human Resource Development. The flexibility that the online format allows has been essential in enabling me to pursue my Master's degree, while working full-time in a professional HR position. Although this is an online program, there is no sense of deficiency when it comes to quality education. The faculty is knowledgeable and supportive and there is typically more interaction amongst class members than I have experienced in a conventional classroom setting.
The HRD program is equipping me with the knowledge and tools to successfully pursue Human Resource Development with confidence and professionalism. I am excited to be a part of the HRD program at The Florida State University and grateful to have found a quality learning experience in an online format.

I am so glad I chose the Master's in Adult Education/Human Resource Development distance learning program at Florida State University. The faculty, curriculum, and overall experience far exceeded my expectations for an online program. I knew my studies would be academically rigorous and personally challenging because of the reputation of FSU, however, I was pleasantly surprised at how relevant and applicable the coursework has been to my professional practice!
As a direct result of earning this degree, I was promoted from Coordinator to Director of Corporate Training at Pasco-Hernando Community College, where I've worked in continuing education for the past 12 years. Not only did my knowledge and skills in human resource development and training improve over the two years I was in the program, but my confidence also grew. I learned how to better negotiate training agreements, conduct needs assessments, and perform effective program evaluations, all of which led to increased revenue in my department and greater internal visibility and acknowledgement for me.
The other delightful surprise was how interactive the classes were and how well I got to know the faculty and other students in the program. We had many opportunities to work in teams and share personal knowledge and experiences. I'd expected a more isolated learning experience, but it really was a group effort. The skills and knowledge I gained are certainly valuable, but I will always treasure the friendships and personal growth I experienced in this outstanding program.

When I was promoted to the Director of Human Resources last year, I was lacking one critical component: a formal education in the
field. I needed a graduate program that would provide me the skills and knowledge to perform my job. A local search for such a program
came up short, so I began looking for an online program. Florida State offered just what I needed!
Through the online HRD program, I am able to gain those needed skills and do it with a schedule that fits my needs. The
flexibility of the program has been crucial to my success - I can do work at my own speed and at the time I choose.
Moreover, the instructional team has dedicated itself to understanding the online learning format and to the success of each
individual student. While not face-to-face, the interaction between students and instructors is rich with context and breadth.
Whether you're returning to school or fresh out of college, working full-time or a full-time student, this program will fit your
needs!

With the many demands of working a full-time job and juggling life it was important for me to find a school environment that would allow not only the flexibility but the accredidation that I desired. FSU, more specifically, the HRD program at Florida State University was a perfect fit as the instructors and staff are always available to answer questions and assist students along their way. Additionally, I find the website a great source of reference as there is a course of study table available to assist those who like to know when a class is being offered and when they should plan on taking it. This small, close knit community is comprised of students who are team players and assist in the learning process.
I am presently working on two Masters degrees through FSU and I must say that I don't regret my decision. The education and contacts that I am making through the program has allowed me to gain a better understanding of the HR field. I work for a public library system and I have been absolutely thrilled to be able to incorporate what learn in the 'classroom' into my everyday life as well as draw upon real life situations to assist me in the learning process. Look no further for a program that is flexible enough for you to have a life and pursue your educational goals.

In today's fast moving world of working, raising a family and business globalization, it is important to find a school that fits in with one's fast paced schedule. I work for a global organization and it is important for HRD professionals to be knowledgeable in the issues that face global organizations today. I searched for a university that would be flexible and yet be very credible where I could earn a masters degree and still maintain my busy schedule of working, raising a family and traveling. While my daughter sleeps, I study. I was traveling in England for 3 weeks during the fall semester, and I could still access my online HRD program from anywhere that had Internet connectivity!
Professors at FSU realize the importance of flexibility. They also understand the student's need to reach out to a professor for assistance - they are there for us and they listen. If I have a question, I can either phone or e-mail my professor and I have an answer in less than 24 hours. It's a quick turnaround. They really care about their students and they want them to be successful. I even e-mailed my professors from England with a problem and my problem was solved the next day.
Since I am from England, I have college and work experiences both in the UK and in the US and I love to share my experiences with fellow students. In return I enjoy their experiences. This is so important in today's business world. It is especially vital in today's business to be able to transfer learning to the job. We constantly apply theory to practice in the HRD program. Class participation is surprisingly very active. I think it encourages the usually quiet students to participate. I discuss important course topics with my fellow students late in the evening and at weekends.
So far, it has been a great partnership

I have attended three different graduate schools during the past four years while at the same time pursuing my dream to become a
successful college and professional basketball coach. I wanted to attend a graduate program that would fit my demanding travel schedule
as well as increase the skills that I would have to offer to any college or professional organization. I am half way through the FSU
Human Resource Development online master's degree program.
The HRD program is very demanding, more so than the traditional classroom courses that I have previously completed. The courses
are well organized and the online faculty and administrative staff very helpful. This educational experience is allowing me to learn
more about how adult learning and performance improvement make good organizations even better!

I am currently in my third semester in the HRD and Adult Education MS program. When I was considering returning to school last year, there were several factors that were important to me. First of all, I knew that I did not want to attend a traditional classroom program. I was also interested in finding a program that was fairly flexible with regards to time. The HRD program at FSU' program offered this and much more.
Although the program does require tremendous effort, it has multiple benefits. The faculty and staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and the opportunity to apply what has been learned presents itself every day. I have developed close relationships with both professors and fellow classmates, despite never meeting most of them "face to face".
I would recommend this program to anyone that is interested in human resources and training and development. The effort required is well worth it!

When I decided to pursue a master's degree in human resource development I already had a successful full-time career which I wanted to continue. FSU's HRD program made it possible to keep my position as a corporate executive while achieving my dream of higher education at a top graduate school.
My favorite part of the program is the distance learning option that allows me to earn a graduate degree fully online. Now I have the flexibility to earn while learning even though I frequently travel for business. The program is already helping me to prepare for a future career as a business performance consultant. I can apply the latest research that I we learn in our "virtual discussion boards" right away to enhance my career - today. Some of my program cohorts are living half-way around the world.
No commuting, more time for life, and a global education…this is the way that all graduate schools should be!
FSU's HRD master's program helps you to have it all.

I enrolled in the online distance learning Certificate in Human
Resource Development, with a goal of being admitted and completing the
Masters in the Human Resource Development. The classes offered in the
Certificate have enhanced my current knowledge and enabled me to apply
that knowledge in my full time position as the Director of Administration.
The online structure of the study has afforded me the opportunity to work
full time and take care of family obligations. The Certificate program
will be my foundation for further study in the HRD Program and will assist
me in my professional development in the human resource development
field.

Hi, my name is Daniel Warren, and I am a doctoral student in the instructional systems program at Florida State
University. I have recently completed the Human Resource Development Certificate program at FSU.
My experience in the HRD certificate program has afforded me the opportunity to work with faculty and students having
diverse and rich backgrounds and training, and as a result I now have a larger palette of tools as well as a broader vision for my
work in human performance enhancement. I found the HRD certificate program flexible enough that I could focus on my main interests
in program and training development, while still providing me with a solid foundation in HRD that promises to serve me well upon my
graduation when I plan to work helping organizations identify and exploit their performance opportunities.
So, if you are looking for an enriching learning environment and a nurturing faculty who will challenge and encourage you
to excel and develop a solid foundation in HRD, then I highly recommend that you select the HRD program at FSU.
