How do I make application for admission to graduate school at FSU?

    1. Applicants to Florida State University may apply using online access to the Office of Admissions. Applicants may access the online graduate application form as well as pay the application fee online.

Florida State University requires the following:

      • A completed graduate application.
      • Submission of recent GRE scores or documentation of previous scores (verbal and quantitative).
      • Submission of two copies of official transcripts from each college or university attended.
      • Complete the Florida residency form.
      • Payment of the $30.00 application fee.

FSU requires either a 3.0 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale for the last 60 semester hours of the applicants' undergraduate program, or 1000 on the GRE (quantitative and verbal sections). If the applicant has the requisite 3.0 GPA, then less than 1000 on the GRE may be acceptable. Submission of GRE scores is a university requirement that will not be waived. Note that our admissions committee takes into consideration the total person with emphasis on work experience and career aspirations, as well as test scores and GPA.

    2. Complete the Online Supplemental Application which is required of all applicants to the HRD distance learning program.

    3. Academic Common Market

Applicants who live within the sixteen-state Southern Regional Educational Board (SREB) may be eligible to pay Floirida instate tuition rates (http://www.sreb.org/). Applicants are encouraged to check with their SREB Academic Common Market (ACM) state representative (http://www.sreb.org/programs/acm/acmindex.asp) to determine if the MS, EdS or Certiificate in Human Resource Development qualifies in your state for ACM status. You must recieve permission from your state ACM representative before you can be eligible for Florida resident tuition rates (any additional fees must be paid by the out-of-state student).

    4. The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies requires the following additional information for applicants to the MS degree in Adult Education with specialization in HRD:

      • Statement of Purpose - A statement of purpose should be no more than two pages in length. It should indicate your academic and professional goals and aspirations, and other information which attests to your commitment and ability to complete graduate study program successfully. References to previous work and educational experience related to your stated goals are useful.
      • Three Letters of Recommendation - Letters of recommendation should be written by persons who are in a position to comment on the probability of your to success in the Department. Letters from former faculty members are encouraged. Letters have been found to be the most useful when they specifically state the basis of the writer's knowledge about your academic abilities, the type and quality of activities you have been involved with in association with the individual making the recommendation, and reasons for the writer's support of your proposed graduate studies.
