Gil "Cancelito" Cancel
Comas has been attending FSU since 1997, he quickly
became an active member of campus hispanic organizations. He was born in Mayaguez, Puerto
Rico (Go Indios!) and came to the United States for his father to complete graduate school
at FSU.
He received an Associate in Arts Degree in computer programing at Tallahassee Community
College in 1997 where he served as member and later coordinator of the Environmental
Action Team and tried to revive the Caribbean Student Association. He tranfered to Florida
State to begin a bachelors in Electrical Engineering and has since chosen to stay at FSU and
pursue a possible double major in Computer Engineering. Gil has a pretty long history as a self
taught computer graphic artist and after his Associate in Arts degree taught himself to bring his
background in computer programming and computer graphics to the web by becoming a web programer.
Gil has served as community chair for Sigma Lambda
Beta- Rho Alpha Chapter International fraternity and served as president of
Vejigantes-Puerto Rican Student Association for Fall '98 - Spring '99. And has been part
of both Oscar Arias Sanchez Hispanic Honor Society and Golden Key Honor Society. He is
also a member of the North Florida Hispanic Association and the National Council of La
Raza.
