The Northwest Florida Water Management District announced last month that Miklus and Calder's grant application was ranked No. 1 among 28 applications. The $600,000 award from the water management district will be used to help fund the retrofitting of a stormwater pond as part of the Capital Cascade Trail project, which includes greenway development and a number of infrastructure improvements on Tallahassee's south side.

This latest grant award pushes the total amount of grants that Blueprint 2000 has received past the $5 million mark since establishing a cooperative internship with the Department. Blueprint 2000 is one of several agencies that have established a cooperative internship with FSU's Department of Urban & Regional Planning. This arrangement has allowed Blueprint 2000 to keep students as interns for the entire two year period of their course of study in the planning program.
