Internship Opportunities

The Department's Master's Program requires all students to complete an Internship in a planning or planning related agency or firm. These internships may be a paid or unpaid positions, although the Department targets paid internships.

The intent of the Internship is to give students a unique learning opportunity, allowing them to put many of the planning concepts and methods learned in the classroom into practice in a realistic professional setting. Typically, internship take place during the summer between the first and second year of study. However, many students are interested in fulfilling this requirement through part-time employment during the school year.

These internships represent an excellent opportunity for employers bring on an employee as an energetic, skilled part-time person and train that employee to meet the agency's or firm's needs. Many of the Departments interns have been hired as full-time employees upon graduation, streamlining the search process and saving the agency or firm a great deal of time, energy, and money.

If you are interested in bringing one of the Department's excellent students to your agency or firm through an internship please call the Department (850-644-8515) or contact Department Chairperson Charles Connerly (cconnerl@fsu.edu) or Master's Program Director Tim Chapin (tchapin@fsu.edu).
