Brevard County
Manatees Against Tobacco Changing Health
The students of Space Coast Middle School are engaged in a technology-based program. The focal points of this project are heart monitors and a school developed web page, which will be used in concert to track student fitness levels. Additionally, guest speakers make presentations promoting a tobacco free lifestyle.

S.T.O.P. (Surfside's Tobacco Opposition Program)
Surfside Elementary School's project creates audio video presentations on topics relating to fitness, tobacco use and nutrition. These videos will be placed on the internet for others to see. Additionally, a fitness program incorporates heart rate monitors to be used to encourage and assess improvements in cardiovascular fitness.

Jammin' to be Fit and Tobacco Free
Members of Westside Elementary School's Westside Jammers, a steel drum ensemble, have produced a road show that will benefit and encourage the youth of Brevard County and the State of Florida to become more physically fit and tobacco free using heart rate monitors and anti-tobacco songs. This road show message will affect over 10,000 students at other schools and communities throughout the State of Florida.

Sport Aerobics
Sport Aerobics, a lifetime activity based physical education program, is being instituted in participating schools across the Broward County School District. An additional component of this program is a strong anti-tobacco message, which is included in each class meeting.

Catching the Fitness Lifestyle
Shadowlawn Elementary School has a peer and parent based mentoring program. Focus is placed on the increase of physical activity through modified games, dance and other fitness activities while simultaneously increasing tobacco awareness.

Family Fitness
Students, siblings and parents exercising together are the theme of Alimacani Elementary School's project. The aim is to increase student physical activity while simultaneously allowing parents the opportunity to experience first hand the positive effects of modeling healthy lifestyle choices. Implementing the "Heart Power" curriculum will afford students the opportunity to educate their family members on the ills of tobacco use and the positive effects of exercise.

Healthy Hearts Fitness Lab
Atlantic Beach Elementary School haws a fitness lab complete with heart rate monitors and computers to be used to help motivate students to attain their fitness goals. Through physical fitness training, prevention awareness and other activities, students will learn the health risks, social consequences and physical effects of smoking.

"Pump It Up" Cardio Tech and Fitness Lab
Fitness equipment, including heart rate monitors and computers, will be employed to allow students at Crystal Springs Elementary School the opportunity to develop and maintain their personal fitness program. The tobacco education component of this project will be satisfied via the "Heart Power" curriculum.

Wildcat Cardio Lab
A peer mentoring program coupled with tobacco education and a technology based fitness program encompass the Wildcat Cardio Lab project at Highlands Middle School.

Health Heart Technology Center and Fitness Lab
Mayport Elementary School's project incorporates elements of technology as it reinforces the relationship between personal health and a tobacco free lifestyle, while simultaneously encouraging a lifetime of wellness.

Tiger Fit
At Quincy-Shanks High School, the Tiger Fit program will revolve around the five components of fitness. Health, tobacco and wellness knowledge gained by students will be shared with family members via a web page. A personal fitness lab comprised of weight lifting and cardiovascular equipment and a fitness trail will be used to promote improvements in student fitness levels.

TUFF (Thumbs Up For Fitness)
Stewart Street Elementary School and Carter-Parramore Middle School have teamed up to implement a program that encourages students to become physically fit and tobacco free. Physical Education classes, after school and Saturday sessions present students, parents and community members with the opportunity to gain knowledge about fitness and tobacco issues as well as participate in fitness enhancing activities.

Fitness for a Lifetime
Using a computer generated fitness and wellness plan; students at St. Edwards Upper School acquire knowledge about, and participate in, lifetime fitness activities. Presentations by guest speakers from the medical community on tobacco and fitness related topics compliment the program.

Development of a Wellness Program
The development of individualized wellness programs is the cornerstone of Sebastian River high School's program. The Life Management curriculum and a local cardiologist lend their expertise to further promote the development of a healthy lifestyle.

NOLES (Noticing Other Life Enhancing Styles)
Florida State University School's program integrates tobacco prevention and education within the general curricula, promotes the improvement schoolwide nutrition awareness and increases participation in lifetime physical fitness activities. Student mentoring, a school based web site and a health fair are also components of the program.

To Be Tobacco Free - It's Up To Me
Bronson Elementary School is implementing a three-pronged program. First, a personal fitness program that promotes lifelong fitness and healthy lifestyle choices is initiated. Second, a fitness trail that focuses on the interrelationship between fitness activities, nutrition and tobacco use is being constructed. Last, classroom activities are used to link fitness and tobacco knowledge with practices.

Cardiac Kid's Club
At Fort McCoy School students engage in incentive based cardiovascular and strength training activities. Students create a monthly wellness newsletter and make presentations about a healthy, tobacco free lifestyle.
Martin County
Bulldog Fitness for Life
A life management skills/weight training curriculum, coupled with a technology laden wellness center, is the foundation of South Fork High School's Bulldog Fitness for Life project. Public Service Announcements on fitness and tobacco related topics is produced and shown countywide on local TV.
Osceola County
SMILE LAB: TAR FL (Sensory Motor Intensive Learning Environment Lab Approach to Beat Tobacco And Raise Fitness Levels)
The Osceola School District combines reading education and tobacco education at the elementary school level. Wellness programs seek to improve muscular strength and endurance, cardiovascular fitness and flexibility.
Pasco County
SMART (Students Must always Resist Tobacco)
A ropes course is the focal point of a joint program between Sunray and Seven Springs Elementary Schools. Presentations by noted health authorities bring real life knowledge to students. Fitness and tobacco knowledge is also being conveyed via closed circuit TV within the school.

Fitness for Fun, Health and Life
At Laurel Nokomis School a cross-curricular program will seek to improve student fitness while simultaneously promoting a tobacco free lifestyle. A mentoring program, fitness trails, after school fitness club and involvement of community partners are all critical components of this project.

McIntosh Middle Fitness For Life Center
Mentoring and fitness based technology are key ingredients in McIntosh Middle School's project. In conjunction with the "Heart Power" curriculum, students will incorporate lifetime physical activities into their daily lives. Additional focal points include the elimination of tobacco use and the importance of wellness initiatives.
