Written in the latter years of the eighteenth century, the United States Constitution's first ten amendments, the Bill of Rights, are a model for the protection of personal freedom, and a shield from unwarranted governmental intrusion. Are they still relevant to and adequate for the "information Age?" The Pinellas Chapter of the ACLU offers a $200 prize to the best essay on this subject submitted by high school students. Please complete the application below and submit it with your essay. The essays will be judged by the Advisory Panel of the ACLU and the winners will be invited to attend a special spring dinner sponsored by the ACLU. Essays must be typed or printed, original, and not exceed five hundred words. Copy or print out this form on your printer, fill it out, and send it with your completed essay to: ACLU Essay Contest, P.O. Box 12372, St. Petersburg, FL 33733. |
