International
Students

Students who are not US citizens are warmly welcomed into the University
and into the Classics Department. Please consult the University's
website on international graduate student admissions for information
and application forms at http://www.admissions.fsu.edu/intl/graduate.htm.
A few things to note when considering
whether to apply to the Classics department at FSU:
- Financial Aid: The Classics Department
and the University are able to fund international students according
to the same scale as domestic students. The University, however,
requires, that all students who are not US citizens complete
a Certificate of Financial Responsibility (CFR), available at http://admissions.fsu.edu/intl/costs.htm. The CFR will require international students to demonstrate
that they have sufficient financial resources to enable them
to remain in the United States for their graduate study. For
2003-4 the amount you must be able to demonstrate is: $27,648
for the graduate student and an additional $4,000 for a spouse
and $2,000 for each child. Any departmental fellowships or stipends
that you receive may be subtracted from this amount (for information
about departmental and university funding, click here.)
Questions about the CFR should be directed to intladms@admin.fsu.edu.
- TOEFL: The University requires the TOEFL
of international students. A TOEFL score of 550 (paper-based)
or 213 (computer based) is required of all students wishing
to apply to FSU.
International students are also encouraged to visit the University's
International Student Center website (http://www.fsu.edu/~fsu-isc/welcome.html),
which contains information about the international student community
at FSU and about Tallahassee.
