Leon Golden (Ph.D.,
Chicago) specializes in ancient literary criticism and in Greek poetry,
especially tragedy and epic. He has won a university teaching award. He
is the author of In Praise of Prometheus and of Aristotle on Tragic
and Comic Mimesis. He has published, with O.B. Hardison,
influential translations of Aristotle's Poetics and of
Horace´s Ars Poetica. An article by Professor Leon Golden
will appear in the fall entitled "Ars
and Artifex in the Ars Poetica" in which he will offer a new
interpretation
of how that influential work is to be read. He is currently working on
a
study showing the way in which the Iliad serves as the source
of the
complex structure of Greek tragedy.
