The Department of Classics at The Florida State University and the Graduate Symposium Selection Committee invites abstracts dealing with some aspect of the ancient Mediterranean world before A.D. 700/700 C.E. from any graduate student (or undergraduate senior writing an honors thesis) at The Florida State University. We especially welcome abstracts from students in the departments of Classics, Anthropology, Art History, Humanities, History, Religion, and Philosophy, though abstracts from all departments are welcome.
From the abstracts a maximum of eight papers will be selected to be presented on the morning of Saturday, April 7, 2007. Each paper will be allotted 15 minutes, plus 5 minutes for questions and discussion. Time limits will be strictly enforced. The Selection Committee includes graduate students from the Classics department.
Students will work with a faculty member who will supervise the preparation of the presentation. Abstracts of 250 words or fewer must be submitted by 5 p.m., Thursday, March 1, 2007 to:
