Welcome

Welcome to the official website of the Florida State University Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement, (C.A.R.E.).  Please take some time to review all that our center has to offer.  C.A.R.E. provides preparation, orientation and academic support programming for students who are among the first in their family to attend college, and for those who otherwise may face unique challenges in college because of economic, cultural or educational circumstances.  C.A.R.E. implements programs to prepare certain middle and high school students for college as well as programming to help entering college students in their adjustment and academic success throughout their time in college.  The students served by C.A.R.E. represent broad levels of diversity in terms of backgrounds, cultures, interests, and academic performance.

The administration and staff in C.A.R.E. are dedicated to assisting deserving students and promoting their pursuit and successful completion of post-secondary education.  To this end, the center offers a structured, comprehensive academic and personal support system for all participating students.  We strive to provide a caring and welcoming environment that requires students to put forth their best effort.  Students who actively participate in programs administered by C.A.R.E. have been overwhelmingly successful in gaining admission to college, persisting, and earning baccalaureate degrees.

The information contained in this site will help familiarize prospective students and parents with all of our programs for college readiness and admission to Florida State University.  Additionally, C.A.R.E. offers various mentoring opportunities for students through volunteerism and paid work experiences.  Finally, C.A.R.E. works with culturally based honor societies that promote academic excellence, as well as opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and render service to the community.

Should you qualify to participate in any of the programs administered through the Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement, we hope that you will not hesitate to apply.  I can assure you that the benefits will be well worth your effort.  Let us know if we can otherwise be of assistance.

Please know that it would be our pleasure to hear from you in the very near future, because as always...
We CARE!
