One of the most acclaimed and controversial writers in the world, Salman Rushdie is the author of numerous international bestsellers, including The Moor’s Last Sigh, Shalimar the Clown, The Satanic Verses and Midnight’s Children, which won the prestigious Booker Prize. Winner also of the Whitbread Prize, the Writer’s Guild Award and major literary awards in Germany, France and Italy, Rushdie has served as president of PEN American Center and was founder/president of the International Parliament of Writers.
Born in Mumbai, India, and educated at King’s College, England, Rushdie’s work has “opened up a new universe by changing the way we tell stories and see the world around us” (Time Magazine). Among Rushdie’s other accomplishments, he was made a Knight of the British Empire in 2007. Presented in conjunction with the FSU Creative Writing Department.
