Support
The Department assists graduate students financially through a variety of teaching assistantships, graduate assistantships and other types of support. University Fellowships are also available on a competitive basis, as are University research awards and other forms of financial support. Assistantships are awarded on a competitive basis. These awards provide support and valuable experience to graduate students. Assistantship responsibilities are typically are bundled with stipends and tuition waivers. Waivers may not cover 100% of all fees. Many graduate students have gained teaching experience in our department as part of their assistantship responsibilities, teaching classes in foundations and media areas. An annual Florence, Italy Teaching Fellowship is awarded annually in concert with FSU International Programs to one outstanding graduating MFA student. The award includes one semester of adjunct teaching in the department prior to teaching art abroad through FSU International Programs.
