The Department of Art offers a course of study leading to the master of fine arts (M.F.A.) degree. The program is national in orientation and contributes to the cultural life of the University, the Tallahassee community, and the state of Florida. The Master of Fine Arts program is a 60-hour program based on intensive studio practice at advanced levels reflecting all departmental media areas. The strength of the graduate program lies in the excellence of its faculty members and graduate student body, and their commitment to the personal and professional practice of art and related scholarly activity. Anchored in the Department of Art in the College of Visual Arts, Theatre & Dance, these individuals share the belief in the importance of artistic endeavors within a global and social context and the concept of creative and scholarly research as a vital and enriching part of a Class I Research University.
