Printmaking
The printmaking area embraces both traditional practice and contemporary trends in print. The curriculum provides experiences in the typical print media, lithography, intaglio, relief, and screen-printing while encouraging exploration and experimentation. Non-toxic and water base processes are stressed in all labs. Alternative and allied processes such as monotype, papermaking, book arts and computer imaging reflect the variety of print related opportunities a student may encounter.
Facilities & Special Equipment
The screen-printing facility includes numerous individual printing stations and screens. Papermaking has an Oak Park beater, a 4’x4’ vacuum table and a hydraulic press for large sheets. Lithography has a Takach press, a Brand press, and uses both stones and plates. Intaglio and relief share several Brand presses, ample table space and intaglio utilizes a well-ventilated acid room. All print media share a common computer lab for photo processes.
