About Us

Visiting Artists & Scholars Program

An active Visiting Artist and Scholar (VAS) program presents the works of recognized artists, designers and critics. The Department of Art recognizes the value of presenting diverse viewpoints and programs, and the Visiting Artist and Scholar program is essential to this goal. The distinguished visitors will usually give a public lecture, as well as student critiques, seminars and workshops. The Department of Art VAS program is part of the “VAT&D Presents: Lecture Series” which is funded by a generous gift from the late Vincent and Mary Agnes Thursby. The University’s annual celebration of Seven Days of Opening Nights also brings prominent artists, critics, and historians to the campus

Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series

Funded through a generous gift from Dr. Ben Bivins, our first Department of Art Distinguished Alumni Lecture in 2006 provided an opportunity to begin highlighting some of our most prominent and successful alumni, many of whom are active professional artists and designers.
