Bachelor of Arts
Requirements
Students must complete 42 credit hours of coursework for the BA in art history, including 33 in art history and 9 in studio art. The foundation courses (ARH 3056 and 3057) provide a broad view of major artists and monuments from around the world and should be taken as early as possible. A seminar (ARH 3800) is required of all majors; students planning to do graduate work should take art history methods and media (ARH 4810). Majors must also satisfy all other university requirements for the BA, including speech, computer literacy, and a foreign-language course at the 2000-level.

Internship - 3 hours
Majors may apply up to one 3-hour museum internship (ARH 4941) toward the upper-level requirements for the Bachelor of Arts in art history (Note: this option is not available to students minoring in Museum Studies, for whom a 6-hour internship is required).
To register for an internship, the student should make arrangements with the museum's intern coordinator and an Art History professor of record. The Internship Registration Form [pdf] should be filled out and signed by the student and the professor, and a copy should be given to the advisor, Jean Hudson, who assists the student with registration for the internship hours. At the end of the internship, the museum supervisor fills out an Internship Evaluation Form [pdf] and the student sends it to the professor.
The student's grade for the course is based on an 8–10 page research paper (on a topic arranged ahead of time with the professor), a journal of activities, and the museum supervisor's evaluation. The student is responsible for maintaining regular contact with the professor of record throughout the semester to discuss paper topics and progress.
Note: All internships in the Museum of Fine Arts are under Allys Palladino-Craig as the professor of record as well as the intern supervisor.
