Research Interests:

Art Education, Developmental Theory, and Art Museum Education

Pat Villeneuve teaches a doctoral seminar in teaching and learning as well as graduate coursework in arts administration and art museum education. Pat completed her graduate studies at the University of Arizona working with W. Dwaine Greer, Vincent Lanier, Jean Rush, and Harry Broudy. She received her Masters of Art degree in Art Education, and her doctorate in Administration and Art Education. Prior to coming to FSU in 2003, Pat taught at Arizona State University and the University of Kansas, where she was also curator of education at the Spencer Museum of Art.

Pat has published, presented, and consulted extensively in art education and art museum education. In 2001 Pat completed her tenure as editor of Art Education, the membership journal of the National Art Education Association. Pat recently organized Gallery Praxis, an art museum education conference and NAEA Co-Sponsored Academy held at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. With Mary Erickson, professor in the School of Art, Arizona State University, Pat was the recipient of a National Art Education Foundation research grant. She is editing a book on art museum education theory and practice, underscoring her commitment to improving training and practice in the field.
