H.E.L.P.’s
executive board is comprised of thirteen carefully selected members
who have proven themselves committed to the growth and success of
the organization. Potential candidates undergo a screening process
that entails the submission of personal resumes, writing essays
on why they deserve to be an officer, and answering questions posed
by a panel of judges during a comprehensive interview. After hearing
from all candidates, positions are assigned according to each person’s
strengths and talents.
Why such a thorough application process? Well, the responsibility
carries with it a comparable workload and high expectations. Aside
from acting as captains on our monthly trips to the centers and
mentors on our weekly trips to the foster homes, officers are required
to put in at least fourteen hours of work per week in the H.E.L.P.
office. They also spend a good portion of their free time working
on a wide array of H.E.L.P. related issues and projects. This hard
work and dedication does, however, pay off and the benefits are
endless.
