Billy R. Close is a graduate of Florida State University with a dual
Bachelor
of Science degree
in Psychology and Criminology and a minor in African American Studies. Dr. Close is a former recipient of the McKnight Doctoral
Fellowship. In
addition, he serves as assistant professor of the African American Studies Program. Formerly a member of the FSU Athletic Board and
track star with
national ranking, and the recipient of numerous academic honors, Dr. Close exemplifies the finest qualities of a student-athlete. Dr.
Close's wife, Fran T. Close, is a research associate in the Biological Science Department.
