Center for Academic Retention and Enhancement (CARE) Through CARE, Florida State University offers a special admissions program dedicated to assisting students who have been disadvantaged due to economic, educational, or cultural circumstances. Most of the students selected for CARE will be a first-generation college student from financially deprived backgrounds with strong potential for success. Students would enter this program in the summer. Interested students should submit the application for admission to the University, a supplemental CARE application (see below), a short essay (no more than 500 words) describing the student's educational goals, and two letters of recommendation (one from the school guidance counselor).
