College of Social Work

Florida State’s College of Social Work is the oldest and largest social work school in the State of Florida. You will study social welfare policies and programs, social work methods, human behavior and the social environment and the research process in social welfare. You will learn techniques for dealing with individuals, families, groups, and whole communities and practice data collection, problem diagnosis, and treatment planning and evaluation. You may undertake a major or minor in social work to complement a major in criminology, nursing, sociology, political science, or psychology. Many students who successfully complete the undergraduate program often qualify for advanced standing in the graduate program. A baccalaureate degree in social work is also useful preparation for law school or the ministry.
