College of Social Sciences

Florida State’s College of Social Sciences encompasses a broad range of disciplines in society and government. From the study of economics and political science to sociology, urban and regional planning, and geography, the College prepares you to address the needs of our changing cultures. Eight programs lead to the Bachelor’s degree, and while most Social Sciences students choose a single major in a department, those with high academic aspirations are encouraged to double major. The program is located in Tallahassee, the capital city of Florida. This location gives you the opportunity to be in close proximity to the key functioning units of government: including state and federal courts, the governor’s office, legislative sessions, state and federal prisons, and the departments of Corrections, Probation and Parole, and Law Enforcement. These advantages provide you with diverse opportunities for student internships and employment contacts.
