State Farm
State Farm offers tips on planning for and recovering from natural disasters and catastrophes and specific precautions for hurricanes.
Florida Service, Preparedness & Response Coalition (SPaRC)
Florida SPaRC connects students with their communities through homeland security and hometown safety efforts, increasing their knowledge and application of prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery skills.
Florida Division of Emergency Management (DEM)
Florida DEM aims to ensure that Florida is prepared to respond to emergencies, recover from them, and mitigate against their impacts. This site provides information and planning tools to the Florida Emergency Management Community, including information on developing a Family Disaster Plan.
NOAA National Weather Service National Hurricane Center
This site offers satellite images of active weather patterns, tropical activity weather advisories and other resources to assist in storm tracking, including *.pdf copies of blank tracking charts used by the National Hurricane Center.
National Hurricane Center Hurricane Preparedness
This website aims to inform the public about the hurricane hazards and provide knowledge that can be used to take action, offering interesting information on hurricane preparedness specifically developed for kids as well as the Hurricanes... Unleashing Nature's Fury.
Hurricane Warning!
Hurricane Warning! is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization based at the Disaster Survival House in Deerfield Beach, Florida. The Disaster Survival House is an all-hazards learning and training center, focused on hurricanes. The Hurricane Warning Education Program teaches hurricane and disaster mitigation, safety and preparedness to children, families, seniors, students, and businesses.
American Red Cross Disaster Services
Each year, the American Red Cross responds immediately to more than 70,000 disasters, including house or apartment fires (the majority of disaster responses), hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation accidents, explosions, and other natural and man-made disasters. Florida Alliance for Safe Home (FLASH)
FLASH is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization dedicated to promoting disaster safety and property loss mitigation. FLASH aims to promote life safety, property protection and economic well-being by strengthening homes and safeguarding families from natural and manmade disasters.

General Service-Learning
Florida Campus Compact (FL|CC)
FL|CC works with colleges and universities in our state to promote the scholarship of engagement through research, academically rigorous service-learning, campus-community collaboration, civic engagement and collegiate volunteerism. FL|CC is a thriving and growing organization comprised of every state university, 20 of the 28 community colleges, and 17 independent colleges and universities. FL|CC provides leadership to integrate service with academic study and to link the collegiate experience with community agencies that address a spectrum of needs in cities and towns throughout Florida.
Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS)
CNCS is a federal agency that works with state governments and community organizations to provide opportunities for Americans of all ages to serve through AmeriCorps, Learn and Serve, and National Senior Service Corps programs.
Volunteer Florida
As the Governor's Commission on Volunteerism and Community Service, Volunteer Florida believes that "strengthening Florida's communities through volunteerism and service" is not just a mission statement; it's a way of life. National Service-Learning Clearinghous (NSLC)
NSLC is a comprehensive information system focusing on all dimensions of service-learning, covering kindergarten through higher education school-based as well as community based initiatives.
National Service-Learning Partnership (NSLP)
NSLP's purpose is to orchestrate a comprehensive and broad-based approach to making service-learning a standard part of students' education across the United States. As a network of grassroots and national service-learning supporters, NSLP brings together organizational and individual members, including thousands of practitioners, administrators, community activists, policymakers, researchers, parents, young people, and leaders in business and other sectors.
National Youth Leadership Council (NYLC)
NYLC's mission is to engage young people in their communities and schools through innovation in learning, service, leadership and public policy. As one of America's most prominent advocates of service-learning and youth service, NYLC is at the forefront of efforts to reform education and guide youth-oriented public policy.
National Service Resource Center (NSRC)
NSRC
is a training and technical assistance provider to programs funded by the Corporation for National Service. NSRC is your one-stop shopping destination for information specific to community service programs.
National Service-Learning Exchange (NSLX)
Founded in 1998, NSLX is a collaboration between five leading service-learning organizations and a network of nearly 400 experienced peer mentors. NSLX supports high-quality service-learning in kindergarten through high school, higher education, and community-based organizations, by providing free technical support and mentoring, and consulting and training on a fee-for-service basis. NSLX's five regional centers are staffed with knowledgeable professionals who can provide one-on-one support for service-learning efforts.
