State Farm Insurance and the State Farm Companies Foundation have awarded funds to Florida to support student advocacy and information campaigns to raise awareness about the importance of building codes and disaster preparation. This program, currently in its third and final year, awards funds to kindergarten through higher education schools in Florida to support projects where students learn about these issues and educate their peers, parents, and the public about them. Program funds, administered by a cooperative effort between the Florida Alliance for Student Service and the Florida State University's Center for Leadership and Civic Education, support a variety of projects across the state - with total program funds for year one at $125,000; year two at $150,000; and year three at $50,000. Individual project awards range from $1,500 to $8,500. We hope you will find this site to be a helpful tool; in addition to learning about the State Farm Florida Service-Learning and Home Safety Initiative projects throughout Florida, this website provides a number of resources on implementing service learning, working with youth in areas of homeland security, funding opportunities, and exciting events and professional development opportunities.
