Congratulations on your acceptance to Florida State University! The process of enrolling can sometimes be a bit confusing, so we’ve compiled some helpful information that we hope will make the process easier. If you still have unanswered questions, please email us at admsofficer@admin.fsu.edu. |
YOUR ACCEPTANCE TO THE UNIVERSITYThe Online Status Check on the Admissions website contains the most current admission record. Please take advantage of this tool in order to verify the following information:
CONDITIONS OF ADMISSIONPlease re-read your letter of acceptance. If you have been admitted subject to high school graduation and successful senior-year performance (including dual enrollment), you must send us your transcript(s) immediately upon graduation. At that time, we will conduct a final review of your application. A downward trend in your senior year grades, any grade below C, and/or any change in your senior schedule involving academic courses could result in your offer of admission being rescinded. In addition, if your overall cumulative college grade point average (including dual enrollment) is below 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale), your admission will be rescinded. You may use our Online Status Check feature to verify the receipt of your final transcript(s). CREDIT BY EXAMINATIONUp to 45 semester hours of credit are available by taking AICE, AP, IB, or CLEP tests and achieving appropriate scores. To receive credit, have your official test scores sent directly to us. DUAL ENROLLMENTIf you have earned dual enrollment credit in high school, you must have your official college transcript(s) sent to us immediately upon completion of coursework. At that time, we will conduct a final review of your application and update your FSU permanent record. If your cumulative college grade point average is below 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale), your admission will be rescinded. Back to topADMISSION DEPOSITThe University requires a nonrefundable admission deposit of $200 from all freshmen accepted for the summer or fall terms. This deposit confirms enrollment intention and secures a place in our freshman class. You should submit your deposit as soon as you determine that FSU is definitely your college choice, but no later than May 1, 2008. If your deposit is not received by May 1, your admission to the University is subject to cancellation. Back to topORIENTATIONAll students are required to register for and attend Orientation. During this event, you meet in small groups to become acquainted with University policies and procedures, participate in academic advising, and register for classes. If you have been accepted to the University for either the summer or fall term, you must pay the admission deposit before you are allowed to register for Orientation. You should register for Orientation as soon as possible after paying the admission deposit, but your registration must be received no later than May 1, 2008 or your admission to the University is subject to cancellation. The Orientation Office begins mailing information for the summer and fall terms in January and for the spring term in September. Orientation information and registration can also be found online at www.orientation.fsu.edu/. For more information about becoming a new student at FSU, visit www.newnole.fsu.edu/. Back to topREQUIRED HEALTH INFORMATIONHealth Form: As an incoming student you are required by Florida law to complete the Student Health History Form and return it to the Thagard Student Health Center no later than your scheduled orientation date or you will be unable to register for classes. Health Insurance: FSU requires its students to have health insurance. You must either enroll in the University-sponsored plan or provide proof of comparable health insurance coverage. You will be unable to register for classes until this requirement is met. If you elect to enroll in the University-sponsored plan, charges will be assessed to your student account, and the cost of meeting this requirement will be included in financial aid considerations. For more information on FSU health requirements, and to download the Health History Form, visit www.tshc.fsu.edu/.
