Undergraduate Application Timeline

The following is the recommended timeline for fall undergraduate applicants to ensure priority processing. The applicable student level is noted in parentheses.

  January to June of Junior year   (Freshman applicants)
  • Send ACT (#0734) and/or SAT (#5219) scores to FSU
  • Put your name on our mailing list.
  Prior to August   (1 year before desired entry)
  • Make sure you will have completed all FSU unit requirements (Freshmen)
  • Make sure you are taking transferable courses (Transfers)
  • Make sure you have registered for both the SAT and ACT test for the fall (Freshmen & Transfers with less than 2 years of credit)
  August to December
  • Submit your application, transcripts, and test scores (ALL)
  • Submit your Certification of Financial Responsiblity and documentation of your current immigration status - if applicable (International)
  • Return your housing application (Applications for housing will be mailed out on a regular basis to accepted students.)

January 1
to February 15

January to May

  • Send transcript with fall grades (ALL)
  • Plan to attend Accepted Student Preview

Submit your Financial Aid paperwork (U.S. applicants)

  • Pay the Admission Deposit by May 1st (Freshmen)
  • Register for orientation online at http://orientation.fsu.edu/
  • Begin preparing for AP and IB exams (Freshmen)

May to August

August

  • Submit your health history form. (ALL)
  • Submit documentation of student health insurance (ALL)
  • Attend Orientation
  • Submit an evaluation of any courses completed overseas (Transfers)

Submit evidence of F-1 institution transfer to the International Center (Transfers with F-1 Student Visas)

Notification of Admission Decision

Freshmen applying for spring term and transfer applicants are notified of their admission decision on a rolling basis.

To ensure an effective attainment of our freshman enrollment targets, FSU will be notifying Summer 2009 and Fall 2009 Freshman applicants of their admission decisions on two (2) specific dates throughout the admission cycle.

Complete* applications received by the following dates will be mailed decision letters on the corresponding notification date.

*A complete application consists of the following materials:
  • Application,
  • Application fee ($30),
  • Official transcripts,
  • Official SAT/ACT exam scores, and
  • Essay.
