In 2004, he presented preliminary research for his honors thesis, "Authigenic Smectite (clay minerals) and their distribution in drill-core 3, Victoria Land Basin, Antarctica," at the Geological Society of America National convention, in Denver. His selection to make such a prestigious presentation should not surprise: in 2004, he was also elected president of the FSU Geological Society. As president, he coordinated a number of activities to promote an understanding of geology, assist students in pursuing a career in the geological sciences, and create a sense of increased unity among students and faculty in the discipline. His formation as a geologist began as an undergraduate at FSU, where he's made the Dean's List, and may continue, Anthony hopes, in the master's program in sediment transport and surface processes.
