Outstanding Senior Scholar

The life of Brian (Myers) is not the stuff of literature. Examine his days at FSU and you'll find no dramatic structure. There's no list of failures that put his quest in jeopardy…just one success after another.

Brian, a senior majoring in English Literature, could be called "The Chosen": chosen to be an Honors All-Star (Spring 2005) and chosen to be an Outstanding Senior Scholar (Spring 2005).

Brian also was chosen for the English Honors in the Major program and recently received an Honors in the Major Thesis grant. Such honors seem an inevitable part of his story: He's been on the President's List (maintaining a 4.0 GPA from Fall 2002 through Spring 2005) and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Eta Sigma Honor societies.

But like many literary heroes, Brian is selfless. He's a volunteer with the America Reads program and FSU Today, and a member of the LGBTSU, a campus organization dedicated to providing services and programs to address the special needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students.

Sometimes failure isn't necessary for an inspiring story.
