Iyabo Morrison Gubernatorial Fellow, Florida Department of Juvenile Justice Iyabo Morrison, a doctoral candidate in rehabilitation counseling from Columbia, Missouri, is presently serving as a Gubernatorial Fellow in the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ). She is working with a departmental initiative to develop a sourcebook of effective treatment strategies for juveniles that would then be used by the department's treatment providers and facilities. Ms. Morrison's doctoral dissertation reports a study designed to examine the attitudes of undergraduates studying rehabilitation toward persons with disabilities and how internships affect these attitudes. Data were collected from interns throughout the nation. Governor Jeb Bush established the Gubernatorial Fellows Program in 2004. Approximately 12 students from across the state are selected to serve in this leadership development program which immerses students in key areas of government. During Ms. Morrison's time at FSU, she has been awarded the Delores Auzenne Fellowship and inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society. In addition, she has served on the Executive Board of the FSU Black Graduate Student Association. |
